Activities and schedule
Activities
In water show:
The main event of the Festival will be the showing of the 35 to 50 boats. The show will take place between locks 1 and 2 of the Lachine Canal. Visitors will be able to see, touch and hear the boats up close since they will be tied up to floating docks on which the public will circulate. This proximity will allow visitors to meet and discuss the boats with their owners.
Land display:
Certain boats will be presented out of the water because of their nature, their age or their stage of restoration. The presentation of motors and outboard engines will also take place in the same location.
Nautical marketplace:
A certain number of areas and tents will be available for vendors to advertise and sell products and services related to yachting.
Vintage boat tours:
One or more vintage boats will offer boat tours on the St-Lawrence River and the Lachine Canal during the weekend.
Green dock:
A first in this type of event. Part of the show space available will be kept for non-polluting boats or for boats making an exceptional effort to develop new green propulsion technologies.
Prizes, awards and trophy ceremony:
A certain number of boats will be entered in the different Antique and Classic Boat Society classes and judged. The handing-over of the prizes and trophies will take place at midday, Sunday.
Canoegraphy:
The word “canoegraphy” was born from the fusion of the words canoe and choreography. It is the sport or, as some will say, the art of paddling to make a canoe dance on water! Come and meet the people who practice this sport and see their amazing choreographies.
Music and Sea shanties:
During the whole weekend, musical groups will perform live music on site such as Jazz, Sea shanties and a special performance from the Royal Canadian Sea Cadets.
Evening show:
Friday and Saturday, a maritime inspired musical dance show will be presented. Its location and concept will be absolutely innovative.
Observation and interpretation of the tug Daniel McAllister:
Crew members who once worked on this vessel will be present on site to talk about their fascinating experiences onboard that ship.
Discover vintage yachting:
Using vintage boats powered by motor, sail or man, children will be delighted to have their first contact with the boating world.
Assembly of mini sailboats and mini vintage boats:
Miniature vintage wood boats will be available for purchase and painting on site.
Remote control boats:
Visitors will be introduced to ship modelling by the exhibition of various remote control boats.
